An octogenarian fellow who likes to dwell on his past
And talk of the days when his legs did move fast
When at fifteen hundred metres he did compete against the Country's best
And was seldom known to be wanting when put to the test
Many times a great grandfather divorced from his wife
One can say he has known of better days in life
When he was lauded as a renowned athlete
Against the Country's best with success he did compete
Back when he was one seen well worthy of praise
Their toasting glass nowadays none to him does raise
The passage of time change with it does bring
His praises nowadays nobody does sing
He was lauded as a champion athlete many Seasons ago
Long before time it did become his foe.
