A saying that lives on from the long ago
That the one with many friends is not without a foe
As a truism today it does remain
The meaning in this it's own self does explain
You may be a kind and caring person for to give you your due
But that everyone will not be your friend happens to be true
You may be one of the nicest people on your side of the town
But always a few for to verbally drag you down
To the most popular people everyone does not wish to be a friend
Humanity works in this way why otherwise pretend
Though you may have many admirers there are always a few
Who do not like you as a person this is not saying what is new
You win some and lose some in life one suppose
And the one with many friends is not without foes.
