He will never again walk in the fields of the rook and grey crow
In green Ballydaly Lower where the Blackwater flow
In the quiet countryside by night and by day
To the distant Atlantic babbling on it's way
Sad to learn Seamus Murphy has reached the end of his life span
He was known to all who knew or knew of him as a likeable man
Though death is a thing that we all have to face
Ballydaly Lower for him in it was a much better place
In life respect for his honesty for himself he had won
Seamus a good man who never harmed anyone
From where he lived for years not that far away
His remains are at peace in Cullen Cemetery today
He was not very old though he did not die young
And his own praises by him they never were sung
A true gentleman of him one can say
The Human World in need of more people like he was today
Gone from Ballydaly Lower he will never again
See the Boggeraghs half cloaked in the grey fogs of rain
For all of us from life a final release
Seamus Murphy the good man may he rest in peace.
