The Past May Be Gone

The past may be gone but good memories remain
Of faces and places you may not see again
Today to many you would be a stranger in your first hometown
On old streets that you often walked up and down
That on looking back the years now seems long ago
Long before time it did become your foe
But time does not wait it just ticks on and on
And all you retain are the memories of Seasons long gone
And of erstwhile friends you may never more see
This is all you have nowadays of for you what used to be
But the now is what matters as the wise one did say
And the past it has gone and the now is today
Though on your visualizations you often do meet
Familiar faces on a familiar street.
