Some know them as magpie larks or mudlarks and some know them as pee wee
Black and white mud nest building birds that one often does see
With their heads bobbing as they walk around
On their search for insects that they find on the ground
In cup shaped nest of mud high on fork of tree
The female lay pink dotted eggs of four, two or three
Familiar in their appearance and their pee wee song
Once seen and once heard you never again get them wrong
Birds one does see and hear often sometimes every day
Near where humans live they feel happy to stay
Familiar black and white birds with ways of their own
All over Australia they are widely known
Wherever in Australia you live them you are bound to hear and see
The birds known as magpie lark, mudlark or pee wee.
