The best of the rhymers on her side of the town
But she will never know of literary renown
For the literary critics dismiss rhyme as a thing of the past
And few things in life ever does seem to last
And though she will never be looked on as one worthy of great literary note
She is in her own right a very fine poet
On her side of the town there is no rhymers club
But she recites some of her poems in the local pub
To her appreciative audience who her greatly admire
And of listening to her recite her poetry never seem to tire
A sixty years old widowed grandmother who enjoys writing rhyme
Literary critics dismiss her poetry as of another time
Among the writers of her side of the town she is to the fore
And when she recites her poems at the pub for her always an encore.
