She is not the great beauty she was years ago
Time that ages all life has become her foe
In brown hair dye and cosmetics the years she tries to hide
The ego does have a great ally in pride
Four decades ago when her hair was natural light brown
She was the most attractive looking young woman in the town
She had marriage proposals from many young men
But she has lost most of her beauty since then
Without any children or a partner in her life
Perhaps she will never be anyone's wife
Some of the young males who proposed to her though wealthy in their ways she considered too rough
And others she dismissed for her as not good enough
No marriage proposals for her today
She has missed the boat as some like to say.
