Bumsy The Cat

Do not know if she ever killed a bird or a mouse or a rat
But she lived to a great age old Bumsy the cat
Eventually her owner Jenny White had to have her put down
To be Australia's oldest feline her claim to renown

There will never again be a cat like Bumsy in the countryside near Koroit Town
Eventually Jenny had to have her put down
As she had grown very feeble though to life she did cling
On Jenny for to have her put to sleep must be such a hard thing

The passing of Bumsy must have left Jenny in tears
As they had been together for close to thirty years
As cats go she lived for to be very old
And surely her story deserves to be told

Bumsy had lived in Southern Cross for quite a long time
For more than twenty years she outlived her physical prime
For this alone her praises deserves to be sung
Some cats like some humans are born not to die young

But the fact of the matter and fact never lie
Is that cats like people are born to eventually die
And the story of Bumsy has traveled far and wide
Beyond the borders of the Moyne Shire countryside.
