On Little Ravens

Once heard by their sharp quick caws you will know them again
And mental pictures of their glossy black feathers not hard to retain
The little ravens of south eastern Australia not hard to get to know
Some people refer to them as the pale eyed crow

Quite hardy birds where food is plentiful they thrive
And even in drought ravaged areas they manage to survive
In south eastern Australia their range is far and wide
Familiar birds of towns and countryside

In stick nest on outer branch of taller tree
The female lays greenish pink dotted eggs of six down to three
Even in Climate Change not rare in any way
They are birds that one does see every day

Their shiny feathers quite as black as tar
From their territories they never travel far
In problem solving they never cease to surprise
Quite clever birds one does come to realize

They open rubbish bins for scraps of food and meat
And dip stale hard  bread in water for to soften to eat
In numbers quite abundant in their range
And they are birds that will survive Climate Change.
