I Have Never Pretended

I have never pretended that i am a poet
Nor in any way worthy of literary note
As they used to be in the days of yore
Rhymers nowadays are not to the literary fore
For many years i have been a rhyming buff
Just one who has written a whole heap of stuff
I was one who loved reading rhymes as a boy
And writing them nowadays is a thing i enjoy
This title of poet many like to claim for their own
It is okay with me if this is how they wish to be known
But true poets we are told are of the few
Though many others on this have a different view
But each to their own as the wise one does say
Most of us look at life in our own sort of a way.
