One Who Refuses To Be Counted Out

He used to be materially wealthy going back two decades or so
As humans years go this does seem long ago
The business he ownned and he managed the banks did possess
Leaving him a declared bankrupt and in a financial mess

His wife who could not adjust to a life of poverty
Left him and took their young daughters of five and of three
In his early thirties without his children and wife
Without a home to live in and on his own in life

Life's good and bad sides he does know about
But he is one who refuses to be counted out
Though from being quite wealthy to financially down
He got a job start in a factory on his side of town

He knows he has grandchildren in the U S of A
And his wife did remarry she lives in L A
In a one bedroom rental flat he lives on his own
Of the good and the bad times of life he has known

He never remarried he had a partner for awhile
But even about this he can manage a smile
On Saturday evening he enjoys a few ales in the local public bar
From where he does live to walk not that far

In his late fiftiess a likable bloke
One who can laugh heartily at the punchlike of a good joke
Of Life's good and bad sides he does know about
And he is one who refuses to be counted out.
