Know on how it feels like to be hungry and on how it feels like to sleep rough
Due to an abusive father homeless at sixteen
Some tough times he is one who has known of and seen
On his twenty sixth year with a home to live in and a wife and baby son
One can say of him how well he has done
With a steady job he earns an honest pay
To make a success of his life he has done it in the hard way
One who has known of hungry times on poverty street
At a young age with tough challenges he is one who did meet
As a homeless teenager on the poor side of the town
There is some truth in the saying a good one cannot be kept down
For making a success of his life credit is his due
That fortune favours the brave remains ever true.
