For many years a Rathcoole Rovers player and Club Manager as well
Of Alfie so many good stories to tell

Has been Alfie's memorial for many a day
Far beyond Duhallow's green countryside
The Likeable Alfie is known far and wide
Though he retired from playing many Seasons ago
And time that ages everyone has become his foe
His devotion to the game he loves Alfie retain
A love that in him until death will remain
Alfie a man free of conceit or guile
Win or lose on the playing field he always could smile
In every town in Duhallow he is well known
And in Rathcoole they feel proud to claim him for their own
In his life's seventh decade of him one can say
He is a likeable fellow in his own charming way
Through the years in Duhallow his friends in numbers have grown
The likeable Alfie Cooney he is Rathcoole's own.
