Octogenarian Great Grandparents

Living under the one roof their best years long gone
And only their fear of death keeps them living on
They no longer socialize together they have drifted apart in life
Though for sixty years they have lived as man and wife
Octogenarian great grandparents their family is now all they do share
Suppose in a long term relationship this is not rare
With little interests in common words between them are few
That love can grow stale is not saying what is new
It is each to their own in the words of the wise
With her artistic friends she socialize
And with his mates in the pub they mostly talk of football
And in hindsight great moments in sports do recall
The love in their marriage did die years ago
And time that ages all things has become their foe.
