As Of Another Time

Though they are dismissed as of another time
The rhymers they never do run out of rhyme
What was popular in the past most literary critics agree
Has become the doggerel of the twenty first century
Today there are rhymers in every town
Who will never know of literary renown
Rhymers nowadays not seen to be worthy of any literary note
We are in the literary era of the non rhyming poet
To literature as in most things time with it change does bring
Of the praises of the novelist and the playwright and the blank verse poet the literary critics do sing
And rhyme is dismissed as a thing of the past
Few things as is known in time ever does last
Their sort used to be popular in Seasons long gone
Though true to their calling the rhymers rhyme on.
