Australian Magpies

The warbling flute like notes always pleasant to hear
Of the birds who do sing every day of the year
Crow sized black and white  birds who are in reality piping shrike
The Australian magpies do not have a look alike
In untidy saucer type of nest lined with grass high on a tree
The female lay brown spotted bluish eggs never more than three
At breeding time they are very aggressive in defense of their territory
And they even attack and swoop humans regularly
With quite a distinctive warbling flute like song
Once seen and once heard you never again get them wrong
They do have a huge range Australia wide
And they live in town parks and in the countryside
Birds i hear and see many times every day
Familiar Australians of them one can say.
